Editor, writer, creative director, director of visual presentation, stylist, trend reporter, producer.
Laurie Schechter has been dubbed "the fashion expert's expert" working with every level of
style and within every media for the last twenty years. Laurie Schechter created Rolling
Stone's
Magazine fashion section, pioneering its style, format, and publication schedule. Laurie
combined fashion with various pop culture figures (musicians, movie stars, and sports icons).
The approach drew such great interest from the public and the industry the ad pages went from
twenty to more than five hundred per year.

At American Vogue (as the first Style Editor), Laurie was in charge of both the "View" and
"Living" sections, overseeing stories on: fashion, home design, decor, and elite personalities
of those worlds. Laurie is the first and only Vogue editor to successfully handle the "View"
and "Living" sections simultaneously. Moving to Allure Magazine, Laurie had to be replaced
at Vogue by four people. Laurie Schechter has also reported and styled fashion stories for
EIle, Interview, Conde Nast's Traveler, Spin, Harper's Bazaar, and Town and Country
magazines. She has done trend forecasting for various major fashion retailers, footwear
companies, and television programs.
Lauire served as a member of the start-up team and as Visual Presentation Director
overseeing a department of twenty for Q2, QVC's stylish sister shopping network which
now boasts some ten million viewers. Laurie Schechter's credits include Decorating
Editor for House and Garden Magazine, the Creative Director who launched Allure
Magazine
and styling such heavies as supermodel Niki Taylor, actress Meg Ryan, folk
singer Joan Baez, Cosmopolitan's Men's Calendar to name just a few. Currently,
Laurie Schechter is the Executive Stylist at Stylists & Company producing various
fashion / home projects for magazines, television, and National Advertising Campaigns.
As for one example: the New York Times and city mass transit buses. Client: The 1999
U.S. Open (Tennis Tournament). Ms. Schechter is also the Creative Director of Totally
CooI ® broadcast Programing
airing on Manhattan's Time Warner Cable.

In March, 2000, Laurie Schechter was announced as founding Editor-in-Chief of: Totally
Cool ®
The MagaZine. Her Fashion Styling has graced Yahoo Internet Life Magazine,
Bloomberg Magazine, Muscle & Fitness, along with many ad campaigns 2001 - 2002.
