Spring 2001
But of course, this glorious event that annually proclaims the return of Spring would not
be complete without its majestic display of over 30,000 varieties of fragrant flowers, lush
trees and exotic plants. They come from every continent (save Antarctica) and from such
far away places as Thailand, Holland, South Africa, Syria, Mexico and Hawaii. During this
event one million buds are expected to be in bloom on the entire Main Floor of Macy's
Department 34th Street store. More than 100,000 square feet is landscaped and brought
to life by Macy's horticulturists and creative talents.

New to the Flower Show for 2001 are 4 arches to create a dramatic canopy down the Main
Aisle. These arches incorporate rustic woven Oriental Bittersweet branches and live
botanicals designed by floral artist, Laurie Spector. For the first time an extra touch of this
year's playful theme has been added to the Main Aisle, six 5-foot wrought iron butterflies
will be attached to the columns.

Specialty gardens are filled with more color than ever ! Down the Main Aisle is the majestic
Flower Walk, a cut flower garden ranging from Golden Asters to dark pink and white Sweet
Williams. The topiary and 4 seasons water garden blends multi-colored flowers, geometric
and animal shaped topiaries alongside fountains with Greek images. A favorite is the
Hydrangea collection featuring a soothing medley of blue Hydrangea and white Caladium.
